July 24th Purton Manor. It was a very sad yet beautiful day today. Susan's mother was buried next to her father and mother in a churchyard in Walford, near Ross on Wye where her ancestors date back to the mid 1600s. Every one came back to Granny's home for tea where the gardens, the tea and the weather were beautiful.
July 24th Apples in our orchard. This year’s crop has been huge, there appears to be no "June drop" and our young trees, which are only 4 years old, are straining under the weight of fruit. The pairs have not done quite so well as the blossom did not set so well.
July 23rd My Piggies. These five chaps are starting to look rather porky. Two of the castrated boars will be going at the end of August for pork, whilst the others will stay for a couple of more months. They are now coming up to 5 months old and eat 1lb of food per month of age, per day - each.
July 22nd Aslem Quarry, Somerton. Fresh on the back of the new stone wall we are going to build in the front garden of the cottage we went to a local quarry to look at the stone. There we saw these marvellous machines, which cave stone like cake. These really were boys toys.
July 21st The Cottage. Then suddenly it looked like the Americans had started carpet-bombing in the front garden. It started by us levelling out the front garden with a digger, then there was the foundations for the new wall, then we found the old footings and the next ting we knew its a mess....

July 12th. The Barn at East Woldham. In the corner of the garden in East Woldham where we rent a cottage is this old grain barn. It is set on stone staddle stones which originally were to top the rats raiding the grain. Sadly it is falling into disrepair and I fear for the floor.
July 11th. The Hanging Chapel which forms an arch over The Hill which is one of the earliest roads in Langport. Its origins are thought to be 13th century. The present building dates from the 15th century. In the 16th century it was the town hall. For most of the 18th century it was Langport Grammar School.
July 10th. This is Ariadnie our female African pigmy goat. She is rather timid but quite defensive when the dogs come near the pen, he son Bertie will appear later on in the week, I have threatened her with being made into "curried goat" if she does not behave, she produces nothing!
