June 23rd Overhanging Trees. In a lane close to Alton I drove past these trees suspended in the air about 16ft above the road. I started to think about this and realised that over the millennia since the road evolved it had slowly worked it’s way down through the earth and stone and that is why so many country lanes are below the fields they pass, Food for thought.
